Digital Makeup - PSMama's Lip Gloss Optimizer - Part 2

Now here is another one that we can use, Pop or Subdue effect. Now when we click on this and click Play, the instructions say to pop and increase the area of effect, move the white inputs slider to the left to pop and decrease area of effect, move the black input slider to the right, to subdue the overall, move the output, the very bottom slider, the white slider to the left. So click continue and this opens up, the level’s dialogue box is here. And this is how this works.

Now we will take the black slider and we will move it over, and you can see how it is decreasing the effect just shrinking it up. If we take the white input slider and move it, it starts to increase. So I am just going to decrease by moving over here. And then, the white output slider which is the very bottom one here under output levels, move this to the left and it just kind of tones it down a bit and gives you a very nice, natural effect. And then click Okay.

Now we got another one if you wanted to duplicate the groups set, that is pretty self explanatory here. And then we have reduced to 50% opacity and 20% opacity, common things that you might want to do to your group set, using this action.

Here is another one you might want to top off with. And that is Mama’s Composite Sharpener. So I will click on this action and click Play, and say continue, and again, very much like the sharpeners and the other actions, what you want to look for, is that light gray and dark gray lines where there is an area of contrast, you do not want to overdue it like this. Although that probably would not look too bad on the lips. I am just learning as I am going here. I think I kind of like that. That might work. So I am going to overdo it a little bit than I normally do for sharpening of other areas. But for the lips, I am going to click Okay, and then this tells you to paint with the airbrush soft round style, white foreground to reveal sharpness in selected areas, black to conceal. So, uncheck this, stop if you do not need to see it anymore.

So with white, I am just going to come in here, and just add a little bit of glitter, not to all of the gloss but just to some of it. And then of course, we can use our reduced to 50% opacity on that, on anything, it will work on a layer or group, and we have got some nice glossy lips.

Let me try this on another image. I am going to collapse this, and open up lips2 here. Now this does not have a lot of lip gloss on it but there are some areas of highlight. So the action will work on this image. So if your lips have a little bit of sheen but not as much glosses you would like, it is just a natural highlight of the lip. That is all you need to make this action run. This time I am going to run one of the other actions included in the set called Mama’s Two Tier Lip Gloss Optimizer. And this is going to create two sets of gloss. The bottom one is going to encompass a little greater area of the lip but at a lower opacity. And the top group of lip gloss is going to have a smaller real estate area of the lip but it is going to be much brighter and pop. So let us see how this action works.

Click on Mama’s Two Tier Lip gloss Optimizer, and then I am going to click Play. And we get the Dialogue Box. It tells you to choose a selection tool and just like we did with the previous one, it operates pretty similarly to that. And so I need to press Stop now, and get my rectangular marquee tool which is the easiest. You can use a polygonal tool or a Lasso Tool if you like. You just want to make sure that you do leave some of that skin area around the lip. And part of the reason why is that oftentimes, if you look in fashion magazines or Vogue in these covers of magazines, if you look at the lips of a lot of the models, this dip area right here has a natural highlight that appears when lip gloss is applied.

So you want to be able to get some of that skin area, if there is a natural highlight there to emphasize that. So now, what I need to do is click the Play button at the bottom of the Actions Pallet to continue with the action. And we have got the activ
