Saving Time Working in Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS4

Hello there! My name is Martin Evening I am talking to you from Photoshop world, Las Vegas 2008. I just want to show you a quick tip of working with lightroom 2 and how you can save time when you are working with lightroom and photoshop. Now, I got here on the screen 6 photographs that I took actually on my trip while I was still here at Las Vegas, taking down the street. And, you can see from these photographs, from looking at the sequence, you can see that--we probably estimated--the intention here was to create a panorama because I started shooting from the left going all the way across through to the right, in six different exposures. Now, one of the things you might be ware of is that in a let me just select this images back in the by going back into the grid view. So, just bare with me let us just go back to the grid view here. Let me go to the photo menu and choose from here from the editing and sub menu you can see that one of the new controls that we have available in lightroom 2 is to choose most of the panorama in Photoshop which is pretty cool because it means that you can take him images direct from the lightroom and build a panorama with out having to open up all individually first, as you had to in lightroom 1.

The only problem is you are forced to do this using the maximum size of the files. You have no control over the files size. So, this image will end up becoming really huge, probably much bigger than you really need to work with. And, principally it is going to take forever to process so here is a tip which I was actually shown by Ian lions and he said, instead of using that direct control just choose open his layers and photoshop and what this does is that it will open up these selected images using the setting that I have applied in the developed module in lightroom and open it up as separate layers into a single image file. And from there I will show you in a minute, what we can do with it.

First of all, let us just wait while it does its processing. Okay, so know you can see that we have got the image that ahs been open up from lightroom, where we got over here you look at the layers panel on the right you can see we have got all the individual layers that I have open up just now, just from lightroom. And what I am going to do is before I start doing any photo merge work with this is to go to the image menu at the top and choose image size. So, that I can scale down the overall size because this pictures are shot with the smart 3 camera. So, the 22 mega pixels originally and to save time I am going to cut back on the size to say 2000 pixels tall, which I think probably it is going to be plenty enough for me to work with on this demo. So, I am going to reduce down the overall image in size now.
