Welcome to Screencastr, Episode 3. I am Michael Stewart and in this episode I am going to show you how to spoof and email address using Telnet.
When spoofing an email address, the first thing step is to find the mail server of the email address that you want to spoof.
To do this you can go to a website which is CentralOps.net and you can use a domain dossier tool which allows you to investigate domains and IP addresses. Type in yahoo domain up here and select DNS records and then click GO. You want to find the one which says MX and the exchange email server. Now, lots of things have many mail service such as Yahoo! Mail and you can see that they are all here. Except that I am going to use my own mail server, screencatr.com and as you can see the MX is here and the exchange is screencastr.com. Okay. So now what you need to do is go to Start, Run and type in cmd and hit OK. Then type in Telnet, to start up Telnet and press -- type o for open then type in the mail server, my screencastr.com then type in the port and this almost always port 25. Press Enter and it will connect you to screencastr.com.
Okay, so now we are connected to the mail server, and the first thing to do when we are connected is to type in the “from address.” We type MAIL FROM:info@screencastr.com. That is accepted and we go to the next one which is the “to address.” RCPT TO: and I am just going to put the size other@screencastr.com. Okay, that is accepted as well. Now we need to type the body of the message. So you type in DATA, press Enter and now before we do that we need to put in the “to and from addresses” again so they come up in the header of the message. So type in To: space this time and then other@screencastr.com. New line we type in From: info@screencastr.com. Now we type the message and I am just going to write, Hello, message body and be careful not to make mistakes, I had it just then because you cannot backspace this. And now you go to a new line, put in just a dot (.) a new line again and then the message has been sent.
Here you can see the message that we just sent from info@screencastr.com and all the heading and information is intact and it even has the mailed-by as screencastr.com.
The website of the week for this week is whatpage.org. Whatpage.org allows you to rotate your home page without installing any software or even a browser plug in. Once you registered and log in, you will be presented with this page and as you can see here, here is the default URLs. You can add a new URL here which I have already done for screencastr.com. Once you have configured your whatpage.org account, you can copy this link here and set it as your home page. Then when you click on Home, you will be sent to whatpage.org which will forward you to the next page in a rotation of the pages you have set. Here is Google News, reddit.com and back to screencastr.com.
