The first website that we are going to be profiling is jobboom.com, and keep in mind that all these websites pretty much have the same basic layout. On jobboom.com the simple search function is basically that you type-in the job title, where do you want to work, in what region, click Search and it will find all the relevant job inquiries for that profession.
One of the plus sides of jobboom.com is their in-depth advanced search. Pretty much that means you can choose what job sector you want to work in, then you can choose sub categories. For example, if you wanted to work in art, film or media, it will ask you whether you want to be a comedian, whether you want to be on TV, behind the camera, whether you want to do broadcasting radio.
Another option that Jobboom offers is a fact that you can search not only by job but also by employer. So for example if you want to look for General Electric or Motorola and if they are in partnership with Jobboom, you can just apply directly. The only way to view or to apply for that job posting is to become a member in their member section, it is free. You can create a profile putting your career goals and even receive job listings to your e-mail.
Next website I am going to profile is monster.com, which in my opinion is one of the biggest on the Internet. Again, this website is free, if you want to become a member. It has a simple search function again just like Jobboom has, you can search for job by Category or Heading and also by Region. The only down sides of this website is that the Advanced Search isn't that advanced. Again you have the employer search, it will take you directly to the company's website in most cases. And that way rather than going through Monster you can apply directly to the company.
Also on Monster they offer a whole wide range of tools, you can create cover letters right there, upload your resume. One thing that sets Monster apart from the other job search engines is that it offers a wide range of resources and advice on how to find a job, how to write your resume, and how to act in the interview, how to dress, where to look for jobs. And there are even articles written by leaders in certain fields.
Also on the website Monster has job search agents, which means after filling out a few questions, they will e-mail you with jobs that fits your description.
