How to Teleport Across the Metaverse

Our Gridnauts have succeeded! A joint the team of intrepid adventurers from IBM and Linden Lab assembled on a Second Life preview grid.

“Hey guys, this works well. We are in on agent—through the agent domain, we logged in. And I guess, we’ll going to teleport over to OpenSim now.”

This would be a teleport like no teleport that came before. Their destination is not just another region, another virtual world. These brilliant scientists huddled around, fine-tuned their coordinates, and then took-off within the space. But several seconds they had arrived on the OpenSim virtual world. The fruits of labor spread across almost a year have been rapidly rewarded.

Observe, how no inventory was transferred, sending signals back to their destined research stations upon recognition of the desired coordinates. The Gridnauts celebrated. That is one small step for an avatar—one giant’s leap for virtual worlds.
