Democracy can mean a lot of everything but at minimum to be a democracy, we have to have a system that involves ultimately the judgment of the people and to make that judgment worthwhile has to be a judgment were people have to consult one another.
I think to have a democracy, to calls in democracy where people do not have or respect across their differences for the “co-equal people” on the other side of issues. I do not think that is democracy whatever else that maybe and I think that whatever from your voting is, well you have direct representation whether you have indirect representation with a proportional presentation, whether you elect by districts, whether you elect by winner take all, whatever maybe. Whatever your voting system is, Democracy is made that we proceeds the voting.
Democracy is the deliberation among citizens and it involves citizen beliefs that what we have to think matters in should matter to each other and we are build in our comfort level with seating and talking and also listening trying to persuade others, but first long then to try to persuade.
Awesome, really allowing the opportunity, we listen to what they have to say if dismissing out of hand.
That to me is democracy. It is difficult, it is rough and tumble. It does not always get quick and efficient answers but it is the only thing I think we can really do in which people actually participate in governing themselves.
