Hi, I am Jim and I am here to talk to you about Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs or CFLs.
CFLs are mini versions of full size fluorescent light bulbs. You probably seen them in the stores, they look like these as spiral. And they are very expensive when you compared the price to a standard light bulb.
But here are the benefits of the transfer over to CFL.
First of all, they screw in tiny standard light sockets, so you do not need to go out and buy anything special, they fit that same fixture. They are not really fluorescent lights because they give off standard lamp light. They are four times more efficient when it comes to energy and they last up to ten times longer. And they are available everywhere, so, this is not some hunt you have to go on to find them.
If you replaced one light bulb in your house, if you transfer from the standard light bulb to a CFL—you will keep a half-ton of CO2 out in the atmosphere over the course of that light bulb lifetime.
So think about it. Think about all the bulbs in your house and how you can slowly transfer over or if you can do it all at once—it is great. But really, the benefits are immense and I would strongly suggest transferring out to CFLs, if you can do it.
