Multi Sport Athlete VS Specialized Sport Athlete

The big debate today is the multi-sport athlete versus a specialized athlete or the athlete that plays one sport. My philosophy personally is to play multiple sports. I like an athlete that is able to have a good athletic IQ.

Playing multiple sports allows you to have a better IQ. For example, whether you are swimmer, tennis player or lacrosse player, having game time action and be able to make good athletic decisions comes with playing multiple sports. The footwork, the skills, the hand-eye coordination, the teamwork, all come from not just one sport, but you learn them in multiple sports.

Another good example would be as a defense man in lacrosse, playing basketball and playing football, helps you better understand the difference between man-to-man defense and zone defense. That's my philosophy on the multi-sport athlete versus a specialized athlete.
