Alright, here we go with these week’s tips and my first tip is have a plan. You know garden centers are very tempting. They are like a little kid in a candy in the store you just want to buy everything all these great flowers. But, if you have a plan you can sort of be filling in spots in your yard with certain plants.
I want to talk about three plants real quickly here, first one is Columbine, wonderful plant actually it attracts hummingbirds, it tends to like little bit of moisture, part sun, rich soil and does not like to dry out at all.
One plant that can handle a little bit of a drought is Euphorbia and the Euphorbia here is a yellow bloomer, really nice blooms in April and May, it tolerates the dry soil. Any plant though even when it says tolerating dry soil, you need to establish, you need to get it moisten up so that the roots go in so that it can tolerate the dry soil.
The final one is Dianthus which really likes when it is sunny. Again, one of those plants that tend not to like it too moist so it can handle a little bit of drought. Do not water it except when you have long dry spells, and it needs a lot of sun to get these great flowers.
So continue in your gardens, continue feeding, pruning, keep your lawns looking good and I bet some of you will be mowing this upcoming week.
