How To Install a Shower Head

Ingredients

• A cloth or rag
• An adjustable wrench
• Cleaning solution for calcium, lime, or rust deposits
• A roll of plumber's tape
• A replacement shower head

Steps

1. Remove the old shower head - Using a cloth to protect the chrome finish, turn your adjustable wrench counter clockwise to remove the old shower head. Hold the water pipe with your other hand to avoid torque, which could cause damage. (23 sec. )
2. Clean the threads - Clean off any calcium, lime, or rust deposits that may have formed on the threads. (35 sec. )
3. Wrap the threads with - Wrap the threads of the water pipe with plumber’s tape. This will ensure a tighter fit and help prevent any leaks. (41 sec. )
4. Check your tape packaging to see how many layers are recommended to use. (48 sec. )
5. Attach new shower head - Gently thread the new shower head onto the water pipe by hand. Give it a few turns clockwise to get it started. (51 sec. )
6. Continue tightening with your wrench - Using the cloth and wrench, continue tightening the new shower head until you feel the slightest bit of resistance. (59 sec. )
7. Check the water flow - Stop tightening and check the water flow for at least 60 seconds. Check that the flow is even and that there are no leaks. (67 sec. )
8. Finish up - If there are any leaks, you may need to apply another layer of plumber’s tape at this point. Continue tightening until the leaks are gone. You’re all set – now hop in the shower and get clean! (74 sec. )
