Safety first, always unplug the machine from the mains before changing any spares on it. Today, we are going to be using genuine Dyson spares, as Dyson recommend that using genuine spares prolongs the life of the machine.
First, there is the pre-motor filter. This is based at the top of the machine here and the post-motor filter located at the bottom here. Let's start with the pre-motor filter. Remove the canister using the clip like so, and the pre-motor filter is located at the top here, press the release catch here like so, revealing the filter underneath.
Now the filter is washable. When washing it make sure you wash it in warm water only. The sponge and the casing can be both washed, of course, and Dyson recommend you should do this every 6-8 months. We are going to be replacing this one completely, because as you can see it's fairly old. All I have to do is put the new filter in the top there, replace the lid top like so and there we have it, one pre-motor filter changed.
Next is the post-motor filter which goes in the base of the machine. Now to access this compartment, we simply put a 2 pence piece between the two lips here and twist which pops the lid off. Now Dyson call this a lifetime filter but we do recommend changing it every couple of years, particularly if you are an allergy sufferer.
Simply get your new filter, pop it in the compartment there, replace the lid making sure you hear the click, and again locate the bin and put it back like so. Again, all these spares are available on eSpares.co.uk website, thanks for watching.
