Adobe InCopy CS2 - How to Implement InCopy in a Publishing Workflow

Welcome to total training for Adobe InCopy CS2. I am your host, Adam Pratt and I am a senior systems engineer at Adobe systems.

In addition to flying around the US, helping customer switch to InDesign, InCopy and a creative suite, I also co-authored the Adobe InCopy CS2 book for Adobe press.

I have got to tell you, I love my job for two reasons. First, I believe in our product and second I love spending time with Adobe customers. Now, I cannot visit all of you in person but I hope you enjoy spending the next several hours with me as we explore how to implement InCopy in a publishing workflow.

This training is divided into three parts. Part one is InCopy for writers and editors. Part two is InCopy for InDesign users and part three will show you how to combine your design and editorial departments with the free live edit workflow plug-ins.

Now, each part has several lessons in it and for each lesson, there are project files so that you can follow along with me. InCopy is a cool application but it really shines when teamed up with Adobe InDesign, Adobe’s professional publishing software.

That means that in some lessons especially in parts two and three, we will be switching back and forth between InCopy and InDesign. If you do not have access to both applications then you can either download a thirty-day trial from Adobe.com or just sit back and watch.

Your best bet is to make sure your InDesign users also get a copy of this training even if they think they already know how to use InDesign, there is a lot to learn about participating in an InCopy workflow.

In our first lesson, I am going to walk you through an example workflow with InCopy then we will take a tour of the InCopy interface, learn how to navigate your documents and customize a few key preferences.
