Flex Builder 3 is built on the Eclipse framework which is an integrated development environment for building rich internet applications and Adobe AIR applications. There are hundreds of plug-ins available for Eclipse including Cold Fusion, Java, C and C++. Flex Builder can be installed as a standalone product or as a plugin for the Eclipse environment.
In this chapter, as we explore Flex Builder 3, we will learn how to create new projects. We will also create a main application file in both Source and Design mode. We will also get our first glimpse of a Flex Application and get an idea of the debugging and resources available to us.
A Flex project is a grouping of resources that make up a Flex application. In order to use Flex Builder we must set up a project where all of our files will be stored. Let's get started.
