Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 2½ c. shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ c. grated parmesan cheese
- 15 oz. ricotta cheese
- ¼ c. parsley, chopped
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 26 oz. spaghetti sauce
- 12 lasagna noodles
- Equipment:
- Skillet
- Mixing bowl
- 13" x 9" baking dish
- Aluminum foil
- Roasted vegetables
Steps
- Preheat oven and brown beef in skillet - Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit while you brown the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain, and return it to the skillet. (37 sec. )
- Make a vegetarian version by substituting roasted vegetables for the meat. (47 sec. )
- Combine the cheeses, parsley, and egg - Combine half the mozzarella cheese, half the parmesan cheese, and the ricotta cheese with parsley and egg in a large mixing bowl. Mix well and set it aside. (52 sec. )
- Add spaghetti sauce and water - Add the spaghetti sauce to the meat in the skillet. Fill the empty sauce jar with a cup of water, replace the lid, and shake well. Pour the water into the meat mixture and stir. (62 sec. )
- Make the meat sauce in advance and store it in a closed container in the refrigerator. (73 sec. )
- Layer lasagna - Cover the bottom of the baking dish with 1 cup meat sauce. Spread a layer of three noodles and one-third of the cheese mixture. Repeat this process for two more layers. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. (77 sec. )
- Cover and bake - Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil. Bake it for 45 minutes, and then remove the foil. Continue baking for another 15 minutes, or until heated through. (89 sec. )
- Let stand - Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it stand for 15 minutes. Cut into 12 squares, and serve. (99 sec. )
