Anthony Caporale: Welcome to the Art of the Drink, my name is Anthony Caporale and we are working this week with Stephanie for Easter, Happy Easter.
Stephanie: Happy Easter.
Anthony Caporale: Alright, so this week I am going to do a an original drink for Easter. This is actually a drink that one of bartenders named Mike came up with one of my buddies also named Mike and it's such a great spring drink. It's got orange flavors in it. It's nice and light. I am going to go ahead and call it a spring awakening because we work in a theater. It's a hit show right now, excellent show and I thought it would ill be a great drink for Easter.
Right, so we going to build this in a highball glass and I am going to start with ice all the way to the top and the base of this drink is orange-flavored vodka. So I am going to do one ounce of orange-flavored vodka and then a half ounce of amaretto. This is just such a great combination, the orange and the nut of the amaretto, the sweetness and the nuttiest is really, really great. Half of the remaining volume of orange juice and I am going to take this drink and just froth it up a bit, get the ingredients mixed. I don't want to get too much of a head in here because I am going to add something else to it, if I have too much of a head it's going to overflow. I just want to get the ingredients a little bit chilled and mixed. This goes back in, you can see it's still nice and flat and I am going to top this with lemon lime soda, serve it with a straw.
Stephanie: And an orange.
Anthony Caporale: And an orange, exactly, and this is our Easter Spring Awakening. Want to give that a shot?
Stephanie: Well, let's go.
Anthony Caporale: Alright. Each week our Art of the Drink video podcast price package will consist of a Maker's Mark apron, a copy of my Art of the Drink volume one bar essentials DVD and a limited edition version of that spacial touch, a Maker's Mark cookbook not available in stores. Alright.
Stephanie: Let's go. Here is the ice.
Anthony Caporale: Ice all the way to the top. One ounce of orange vodka and --
Stephanie: Half ounce amaretto.
Anthony Caporale: Right, half ounce amaretto.
Stephanie: Orange juice.
Anthony Caporale: Right, and mix it up. Prefect! That's all you need, and top that up with some soda and that's what really lightens a drink up.
Stephanie: Beautiful!
Anthony Caporale: Your cocktail stirring and we are good to go.
Stephanie: Straw.
Anthony Caporale: Straw, that's my girl. Happy Easter.
Stephanie: Happy Easter.
Anthony Caporale: Solid. For more information on the Art of making Drinks be sure to visit us on the web at artofthedrink.com.
