About Me:

Hello.  My name is Christy, and I'm a little bit weird (and proud of it). I was born and raised in Northwest Arkansas but my heart belongs in any city that could claim to be a mix of Hollywood, Nashville and New Orleans.  I love space, wrestling, music and Jackie Collins books, and I have a relentless attraction to arguing, usually as a devil's advocate.  I also enjoy using empty adverbs, something that got me into trouble with many a teacher in the past.  I try to tone them down but sometimes they're just too undeniably attractive.

I started my writing and web career with a few really pitiful music websites.  I learned html by myself and still prefer to hand code.  I loathe Frontpage.  I managed to turn a fan site for the band Vixen into an opportunity to become the official webmaster for Lita Ford.  I held that position for several years until Lita's initial retirement and later was brought in to build the official website for The Runaways.  In the meantime I worked for Inger Lorre and a few other personalities.

A few years ago I graduated from the University of Arkansas and have recently limited my website activities to a few long time clients.  I worked at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for four years before finding myself at Promolife.

Most of my time at this point is spent caring for my mother as she lives with ALS (Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's Disease).  She was diagnosed in October of 2006 and is currently confined to an electric wheelchair with weekly visits from hospice nurses.  I've tried keeping my ALSCaregiver.com site updated in the hopes that something I write might help someone else, because this has been a learning experience like no other.

We share our house with three cats and our backyard with two goofy mutts.  It's not exactly the life I'd anticipated, but perfect plans are boring.  The true experience of life is actually living it, learning from what comes and making something out of each experience.  I truly believe that what happens to us isn't what makes us who we are - it's all in how we deal with it.

I signed up on Bukisa because I love to write and wouldn't mind making some extra coin doing so.  It's also another avenue I can use to entertain myself and educate people about ALS.
