Curriculum compacting is a method of differentiating instruction for gifted students. By testing out unit by unit, some students can work on more in-depth material in there areas of their strengths while getting extra help in the areas of their weaknesses. This method is consistent with federal requirements of using the least-restrictive environments (LRE) for all students.
