Learning From a Bolt of Lightning
by RebEliyahu | in Self Improvement > Motivational
This past week saw a truly amazing world record being made. Not for nothing is the man who made it known as "Lightning Bolt". Usain Bolt – a Jamaican athlete ran the 100 metre sprint in less than 10 seconds – 9.58 to be exact!

Truth: There is Nothing but Him
by RebEliyahu | in Religion & Spirituality > Religion
The Rambam - Rabbi Moshe Maimonides (1135-1204) states in his magnum opus under the laws of the Foundations of the Torah 1:4, "This is what the prophet (Jeremiah 10:10) said, "And G-d the Lord is truth." He alone is the truth, and there is no other thing as true as His truth is (as His reality is.)

G-d Does Not Need Us... For Anything!
by RebEliyahu | in Religion & Spirituality > Religion
Rambam - Rabbi Moshe Maimonides (1135-1204) writes in his Laws of the Foundations of the Torah 1:3: "And if it should arise in one's mind that all existence should cease to exist, (still) He alone would exist. And He will not lose His existence due to their non-existence.

A World Without G-d
by RebEliyahu | in Religion & Spirituality > Religion
The Rambam - Rabbi Moshe Maimonides states in his Laws of Foundations of the Torah 1:2: "And if it should arise in one's mind that He (G-d) is not present, then no other thing can be present (either.)"; There are those (philosophers) who assume the world was created with a Big Bang.

by RebEliyahu | in Religion & Spirituality > Religion
"The foundation of all foundations and the pillar of all wisdoms is to know that there is a first Something that has always existed. And He brings everything into existence. The Torah - Just a Broken Telephone Conversation?!
by RebEliyahu | in Religion & Spirituality > Religion
28 years ago, the Lubavitcher Rebbe set into motion a cycle of learning – to join all the Jewish people together – in the learning of Jewish law. Learning to be done would include working through the Rambam's Mishneh Torah (Second Torah) or the Yad HaChazaka (The Strong Hand) as it is also known.

Parshat Kedoshim - Holiness. Honesty in Business
by RebEliyahu | in Religion & Spirituality > Religion
Parshat Kedoshim – Holy – is filled with the best Torah advice we could ever be given about how to live as Jews. How to be holy. Students at Yeshivot today spend most of their days involved with a variety of Gemara texts teaching students the values of dealing with bulls breaking through fences and goring the neighbour's bull.

Parshat Shemini: Teaching Torah Correctly. A Picture is Worth 1000 Words...
by RebEliyahu | in Religion & Spirituality > Religion
If the saying that says that a picture is worth a thousand words has any real meaning, can one imagine the value of the original item contained in the picture itself?! We live in a world of sight (amongst our other senses.) When it comes to pedagogic teaching methods...

Learning from All - Even a Thief!
by RebEliyahu | in Religion & Spirituality > Religion
Many people are of the opinion, there are some who we should simply stay away from - that there is nothing we can learn from them. Perhaps - we might even say - they have it all wrong. Immediately our defense mechanisms kick into gear and we don't want to hear another thing about the person or subject concerned.
