Many people try to pick the best movies ever made. What is best is very subjective, so these are chosen purely on my own preferences.
Canada has adopted a system of taxpayer support of political parties. Recently there has been controversy over the current system and proposals to reduce or eliminate taxpayer support. I believe that a system of taxpayer support of political parties enhances democracy and the power of voters.
I like to collect and share quotations. They can provide germs of wisdom and humour from great and some not so great thinkers. Lately, though, I’ve discovered a “dark side” to quotations.
"Future Babble: Why Expert Predictions Fail - and Why We Believe Them Anyway" by Dan Gardner caught my interest, because I just spent the last 30 years of my life as an expert predictor in the field of transportation planning. I must admit that I felt defensive at first, since the author appeared to discount all forecasters.
Many people worry about the increasing cost of health care. Before we can look at ways to reduce costs, we need to have a better understanding of where health care spending goes.
In my previous article “Was John Maynard Keynes a Socialist?” I concluded that Keynes was not, as some people claim, a socialist. While most people who contacted me expressed agreement, many others disagreed. I have delved into their objections and here’s some of what I have learned.
Most people think of conservatives and liberals as the opposite ends of the political spectrum. Until recently, so did I. While conservatism and liberalism have a history of conflict, they are not opposites.
Most people have heard of King Tutankhamun, buy fewer people know of his wife Ankhesenamun. When I first learned about her, I thought her life would make a good story for a movie. From Tutankhamun’s birth to his death, Ankhesenamun was by his side. With his death, her life became a tragedy.
It took thousands of years for people to discover the true nature of the Solar System. The road to understanding was not straight and along the way, some curious things happened. The search, after all, was by people, who can be quite curious.
After I saw the movie Agora http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1186830/ I felt that, while I enjoyed the movie, it would a movie that I would quickly forget. Since then however, I have started to see more to it. I think this movie needs a second look.

Good bit. A phase like "green products" can easily abused. You do need to dig a little deeper like you said.
