My Name is Brenda but everyone knows me as "The Duchess O'Blunt". This comes from the Social Network that I built from the ground up based on 7 years of FUN that we had as "The Twisted Sisterhood".
This website and social network for women only took several months of planning by all of the Twisted Sisters (5 in all). Once the planning stages for the community were completed, I went ahead and built the site. We gained over 300 members in a little over 9 months.
However, while much planning went into the social networking aspect of the business, very little went in to marketing etc. As well, very little time from the entire group was allocated to the building of this 'business' as life happened and some serious issues croped up that needed to take presidence.
Regardless of the fact that we had to close it down - it was great fun, and a proving ground for me in many ways. I did not look on this as a failure, so much as a learning. I have taken that learning with me to assist others in the building of their social networks.
I am here to share some of my learning because I believe them to be of great value.

These are all great suggestions. I am particularity fond of the first one, and I do believe I will use that one. First time I have heard it actually and I like it a lot! I could add one more to your list. Invest in a mini tape recorder. I have found this to be invaluable. When a thought hits that I don't want to forget I record it, and then download onto my computer. Some of them I still have as "ideas" but most of them have been used up. Once they are used, I delete them.
