for Spreading Christmas Out All Year on 20th, Jan 2011
The other day I saw a couple in a grocery store and they had loaded their cart down with a lot of bags of basic food stuffs and we got to talking and they told me that it wasn't for them but for the local food pantry. They said that they were using their own money to help because the food pantry was low after the holidays and they wanted to make sure that people didn't go without this winter. (this incident occurred in January) People aren't just in need during the holiday season but are in need all year round. Thanks for reminding us that giving shouldn't just be a holiday event.

for Do We Really Need The Federal Education Department And The Department Of Energy? on 19th, Dec 2010
There are a lot of departments in the government that are either unnecessary or are run by the wrong people. From what I understand, the department of agriculture which was started during the Civil War has never been run by a farmer! Based on the constitution, it is unconstitutional for the federal government to even have any control at all with those areas. Those are not specified by the constitution and therefore are (according to the 10th amendment) are to be controlled by each state government and not by the federal government.
