How to reset your general error printer using ssc service utility

This step-by-step instruction will show you how to reset your general error printer. You can use this method when your printer displaying “General Error” and “ Parts inside your printer is at the end of its life”. This method will work only in Epson printer; this method will not work in new Epson printer models.

Make sure that the printer in on and connected to the PC.

Download SSC Service utility software online

Extract the zip file. Right click on the zip file and click extract here.

Install the SCC service utility software.

After Installing SCC Service Utility, Open the SCC Service Utility application.

When the window SCC Service utility v4.30 window application, choose the configuration button on the upper level.

In Installed printers choose the printer that you are using (ex. Epson Stylus photo series or Epson stylus Photo Series Copy 1)

On the Printer model choose the Epson stylus Photo R230.

Close the application.

On the menu bar, right bottom of your computer near the date. Right click the SCC Service Utility application.

Go to protection Counter and reset protection counter.

When the program question you have you replace waste ink pad, click yes. and click yes again.

Turn Off the printer. After 5 min turn your printer on.

If the printer still general error repeat instruction number 8 to 12.
