Bukisa’s Blog – Whats new from Bukisa

Unique Views changed to Qualified Views

In a continued effort to fight automated bots, spam, fake traffic and so on we have added multiple layers of checks to award a unique view as an actual view.

Do to this in all your reports you will no longer be seeing “Unique Views” but instead you will be seeing “Qualified Views”

What does this mean for you?

Well, if you are a regular user not engaging in sneaky techniques to drive traffic, you will see no difference in your reports, but if on the other hand you engage with some “black hat” techniques you are likely to see much less impressions for your content.

What do we consider to be a “Qualified View” ?

A qualified view is the same as a unique view (a single visitor that viewed your content in a 24 hour period), but in addition we also check for the following:

  1. Cookies are Set (required for unique user tracking)
  2. JavaScript is active (we can’t pay for views if teh client viewing doesn’t support ads)
  3. A valid referrer (not a traffic exchange site, PTC site, auto surf, junk traffic purchases)
  4. Activity patterns

If you have any questions please leave them in our comments section and we will address them.

What’s New on Bukisa – July 2009

We wanted to let you know that we have just recently upgraded to version 1.1 Beta of Bukisa. It is our hope that our latest version will give you an enhanced and smoother experience on our site, and make it easier for you to produce and publish your work as well as increase your traffic and exposure.

Below is a list of the new features that we have added over the last few days:

Private Messaging
You can now use our new private message feature to send messages to your friends, people in your network and so forth, thus helping to motivate your followers and network to create more content and become more active.

New Invite Banners
We now offer a choice of five flashy banners that you can use to invite all your friends and family to your Bukisa site, in order to grow your network of Bukisa publishers.

Network & Friends Notifications
Want to see what’s happening in your network and with your Bukisa friends? Now you can see who signed up for your network, listed you as a friend, see the new content that was created within your network and see who your Bukisa fans are.

New Stat Displays
We have created awesome graphs that allow you to see how many total views you received each and every day! This latest feature allows you to see which sites referred viewers to your content, as well as the top keywords that led them to your content.

Twitter Twitter Widget
Have Twitter? Well, we have created a badge to user profile pages for users who have added their twitter info with us. This will help you all gain more followers and also drive you greater exposure and a larger reader audience when your content is published, as it will automatically publish on Twitter. Please be sure to list your Twitter info with us and make sure to get our new Bukisa Twitter Widget!!! http://www.bukisa.com/myhome/account

Manual Invite Feature
We’ve now added a feature for you to add your friends manually for those that can’t use our automatic email importer.

Comments Tab
We created a new tab where you can see all the comments that you received. You can also view the comments that you left.

Important Notice

We are starting to review our content more strictly. Content that is not up to par, against our TOS, inappropriate, badly edited and written in poor grammar will be rejected. Sloppy and quick work that looks unprofessional gives a poor look to Bukisa and you can help us by sending us a comment if you read content that is of poor quality or inappropriate for our site.

We will also be rejecting articles with Author Biographies, written in caps, bold, having links in titles, self-advertisement, and without paragraphs and good format. Articles that look like self-advertisement will, likewise, be rejected. We will only be publishing quality and well-written work.

Bukisa Index Update – March 2009

It’s that time of the month for the Bukisa Index update.

This month, we are lowering the Index quite a bit (by 30 cents to $3.42). In the spirit of transparency that we believe in, we would like to clarify the reason.

Although we were not hit quite as bad as the rest of the internet market (thanks to the advertisement systems we use), in general online advertising budgets are still being cut due to the ongoing financial crisis in the US, inevitably it affects the way we calculate the Bukisa Index.

We at Bukisa will continue our ongoing efforts to better optimize the sites ad performance in order to give our publishers the highest CPM possible.

The good news that I would like to point out is, that the traffic in March grew over 100% meaning more and more people are viewing your content and Bukisa is gaining better traction online.

So if on one hand the Bukisa Index is a bit lower, on the other hand the number of views keeps increasing dramatically.

Even at $3.42, Bukisa continues to offer the highest CPM rev-share over any of our competitors, and we do believe – as the markets will hopefully improve in the next 6 months – the index will go up again accordingly.

New Minimum Payout Levels

We are happy to announce today that we are adding two new minimum payout levels:

$10 and $25

Where the new default minimum payout is $10 (instead of the current $50 minimum payout), these changes will have an immediate effect and will be active for the upcoming payout in March.

We have done this due to great feedback from our community.

If you wish to receive a higher minimum payout, please login at http://www.bukisa.com/login using your display name and password, and go to your account settings to change your minimum payout.

And don’t forget to stay tuned, our latest updates & features are coming very soon…

All the best!

Simon and the Bukisa Team.

What’s in the Letter “E” ?

Some of you might have seen our tweet from the other day regarding enhancing articles using the letter ‘e’ on your keyboards, so here is what its all about.

There is a new service called ‘Apture’ that allows our site visitors and users to enhance existing articles (only people that have allowed this under their CC license will have this active on their articles).

So what can be added you ask?

So for example you link to a Youtube video, so before Apture the user would have to click and leave Bukisa to go watch the movie, now with an enhanced article all the reader needs to do is hover over the link and they will be able to watch the movie in a nice little pop-up window, you can even choose to embed the video in to the page at a click of a button if you wish.

So, any article boasting this CC license – (which is our default license for new content) will be able to have their article ‘enhanced’ – all that you need to do is click the letter ‘e’ on your keyboard and signup for free with Apture.

You can try it on this article (which I enhanced by adding Wikipedia information for each country mentioned in the article).

http://www.bukisa.com/articles/26055_top-10-tourist-destinations

By enhancing articles users visiting will remain longer on our site and enjoy exposure to more materials and thus contribute to a better overall performance for our site and content.

You can learn more about the features of Apture here: http://www.apture.com/bloggers/

If you are also interested in becoming an editor of Apture enhancements for Bukisa please drop us a line and let us know.

Bukisa Invite Guide

On Bukisa they are a couple of way of inviting users:

1. Automated Email Inviting Tool

In order to use the automated email invite tool, you must have an email account with at least one of these email providers: http://www.bukisa.com/myhome/supported_email_services

You are required to enter your email address and password (for your email provider, not your Bukisa credentials).

Invite Users

You will only be able to email people you have had a prior conversation with.

2. Using your private invite links

We offer two different private invite links:

http://www.bukisa.com/join/1 – this we will redirect the person you have invited directly to the Bukisa signup page. This way of inviting someone is less personal, if the visitor signs up they will be placed in your network. You can find this link on the MyBukisa page after you login.

http://www.bukisa.com/r/simon – the preferred method, this will redirect the person you have invited to your Bukisa profile page, from here they can learn about you and visit your content and if they decide to join they will still be placed in your network. To use your own link like this one, just change the “simon” part to your Display Name on Bukisa

Please remember, any sort of invite spam is a gross violation of our TOS and will result in the suspension of your account and all accumulated earnings.
