Well, this Guide will teach you a shortcut to easily upload a profile picture.

Step 1: Make sure you’re logged into your Bukisa page. Go to your “Profile Page” (http://www.bukisa.com/myhome/account/profile)

Step 2: Once inside your profile page, scroll down, and click “Update Photo”

Step 3: Click “Browse”

Step 4: After you clicked “Browse,” a “File Upload” Box will pop up on the screen. Select the file from your hard drive that you wish to upload, and click “Open”.

Step 5: Once you clicked “Open”, the previous page will show up with the image file selected. Click “Upload”.

Step 6: Wait about 10-15 seconds (note: image upload can take longer if your uploading a giant image file) for the image to appear on your screen. Now, center the Cropping Box around your face or the image you want to upload. You can also adjust the size of the image cropped. Once you’ve properly cropped your image, click “Crop (click me)” at the bottom of the screen.

Step 7: Once you clicked “Crop (click me)”, the page will take about 10 seconds for the picture to save. Once the image has uploaded, click “Save”.

Step 8: Congratulations! You have now successfully added your Bukisa Profile Picture! Your “My Bukisa Profile” will now look like this (minus having your picture in it besides mine!! ) )

Choosing the topic on which to focus your writing efforts on is essential if your goal is to make a good living out of your home-based writing career. Keep in mind that you will need to drive traffic to your page— lots of it— if you wish to gain authority in this industry; and keeping unified writing ideas will help you achieve this. Caution is highly exercised on blogs, but writing for article directories is no different. The same rules apply and we have them enumerated below to serve as your guide.

1.	Never focus your writing efforts on yourself.
It is true that the topic that you should write about should be something that you are very familiar with. This reduces the difficulty of writing and of course, the hassles of research. However, this does not mean that you should allow your writing efforts to revolve around yourself! Sure, you may be extremely familiar with your own physique, feelings and thoughts; and this makes you think and feel that you are the best candidate to write your best articles on, BUT the only question now is: Will there be people who’ll find interest in your articles if they’re merely all about you? There will be some, but this reach is going to be too limited as compared to the number of readers that you can get if you’d think of another frame of reference to refer to when writing. Don’t be self-centered!

2.	Never try to cover too many topics.
It is tempting to cover as much topics as you can on your page, and there is nothing wrong about it. But then again, if your goal is to develop a core audience, you may need to limit your posts to a single topic. The sharper your focus on your page, the more chances you’d attract a qualified audience.

3.	Never try to focus on a topic that you are not knowledgeable or passionate about.
This usually happens when you’ve witnessed a fellow writer succeed in a given niche. It is tempting to follow his/her footsteps— and even the niche he’s had success on—but there is no guarantee that you will also find success on the same topic. Doing so may even end with you ending up as a frustrated writer rather than a passionate one. This will greatly affect your writing pieces and your writing career in the long run.

4.	Be realistic with the number of websites, blogs and other writing efforts which may eat up your time.
We’ve indicated it here because the number of pages and websites that a writer has online usually equates to the number of niches he’s trying to write about. Sure, it’s a brilliant idea to make your writing efforts and promotion vital, but it is not a good idea to cramp yourself with too much ‘unpaid’ work with not enough time to do the ‘paid work’. Realize that even if passive sources of income such as advertisements are available, the income that you can generate from writing for clients will give you an even greater continuous stream of income.
Now, this list is considerably short compared to the all the tips available on the web that can help you choose the topics on which to focus your writings on. Thankfully though, this post contains the basics from which you can build your framework of decisions on which will eventually help bring your freelance writing career to a success. Should you think something valuable is missing here, feel free to drop us a message so we can get the ball rolling.

That’s why we were one of the very first content sites to integrate Twitter into the Bukisa community.

Your new content gets automatically tweeted, along with your comments and your content ratings.

We have decided to help everyone who has added their Twitter info, get more followers!

How do we do that? Very simple! Instead of the static twitter banner on your profile pages, we have now included the Twitter approved widget, so people can see your updates and easily start following you.

You can see how it looks on my profile page: http://www.bukisa.com/people/simon

For those of you that have added your Twitter info (hint, hint), now would be a good chance to do so at http://www.bukisa.com/myhome/account

For more information about Twitter, the Twitter 101 Business guide is a great start – http://business.twitter.com/twitter101

In a continued effort to fight automated bots, spam, fake traffic and so on we have added multiple layers of checks to award a unique view as an actual view.

Do to this in all your reports you will no longer be seeing “Unique Views” but instead you will be seeing “Qualified Views”

What does this mean for you?

Well, if you are a regular user not engaging in sneaky techniques to drive traffic, you will see no difference in your reports, but if on the other hand you engage with some “black hat” techniques you are likely to see much less impressions for your content.

What do we consider to be a “Qualified View” ?

A qualified view is the same as a unique view (a single visitor that viewed your content in a 24 hour period), but in addition we also check for the following:

Cookies are Set (required for unique user tracking)

JavaScript is active (we can’t pay for views if teh client viewing doesn’t support ads)

A valid referrer (not a traffic exchange site, PTC site, auto surf, junk traffic purchases)

Activity patterns

If you have any questions please leave them in our comments section and we will address them.

Simon & The Bukisa Team

We wanted to let you know that we have just recently upgraded to version 1.1 Beta of Bukisa. It is our hope that our latest version will give you an enhanced and smoother experience on our site, and make it easier for you to produce and publish your work as well as increase your traffic and exposure.

Below is a list of the new features that we have added over the last few days:

Private Messaging
You can now use our new private message feature to send messages to your friends, people in your network and so forth, thus helping to motivate your followers and network to create more content and become more active.

New Invite Banners
We now offer a choice of five flashy banners that you can use to invite all your friends and family to your Bukisa site, in order to grow your network of Bukisa publishers.

Network & Friends Notifications
Want to see what’s happening in your network and with your Bukisa friends? Now you can see who signed up for your network, listed you as a friend, see the new content that was created within your network and see who your Bukisa fans are.

New Stat Displays
We have created awesome graphs that allow you to see how many total views you received each and every day! This latest feature allows you to see which sites referred viewers to your content, as well as the top keywords that led them to your content.

Twitter Widget
Have Twitter? Well, we have created a badge to user profile pages for users who have added their twitter info with us. This will help you all gain more followers and also drive you greater exposure and a larger reader audience when your content is published, as it will automatically publish on Twitter. Please be sure to list your Twitter info with us and make sure to get our new Bukisa Twitter Widget!!! http://www.bukisa.com/myhome/account

Manual Invite Feature
We’ve now added a feature for you to add your friends manually for those that can’t use our automatic email importer.

Comments Tab
We created a new tab where you can see all the comments that you received. You can also view the comments that you left.

Important Notice

We are starting to review our content more strictly. Content that is not up to par, against our TOS, inappropriate, badly edited and written in poor grammar will be rejected. Sloppy and quick work that looks unprofessional gives a poor look to Bukisa and you can help us by sending us a comment if you read content that is of poor quality or inappropriate for our site.

We will also be rejecting articles with Author Biographies, written in caps, bold, having links in titles, self-advertisement, and without paragraphs and good format. Articles that look like self-advertisement will, likewise, be rejected. We will only be publishing quality and well-written work.
