Example of a Summer Internship dailly report (Week 6)
I finalized my daily activity report. I then go to Rfx cell to continue testing LF11 board. My first set-up is in Rfx # 13 but the system is not okay because the good board failed during the test. I transfer to Rfx # 38.
6th Week:
May 18, 2009 (Monday)
8:00 am.
I finalized my daily activity report. I then go to Rfx cell to continue testing LF11 board. My first set-up is in Rfx # 13 but the system is not okay because the good board failed during the test. I transfer to Rfx # 38. I test board # 3 and it fails in contact, when I check the component there is no 10K? resistor in R33, the main problem here is that the trace of R33 is damage. I test board # 2, it failed in Bin 11 (ASK_HVIN). Sir Audre instructs me to replace the inductor L3 in the board but still failed on Bin 11.
May 19, 2009 (Tuesday)
I retest board # 2 and # 3 of LF11. Board # 2 still failed in Bin 11. I endorsed the two hardwares to the hardware laboratory. I instructed them to put R33 and C43 of board # 3 and disconnect the lead connecting pin5 and pin6 of U5.
We have CFAR of MAX7032 and it has 8 rejects in it plus one KGU. We first test the KGU using board # 5 of LF11 in Rfx # 38 and it did passed. We then test the rejects and the result is two out of eight passed.
May 20, 2009 (Wednesday)
Finally I was done debugging LF11 board # 3. During the test the result is failure in IFIN, PDP and MIX_OUT, when I check the circuit I have found out that some of the components are missing. I did compare this defective board to board #5 (Good board) and I was able to verify that the defective board has a missing components. In the test I also found out that R6 and R49 has a reading of 1kW instead of 3.01KW in the schematic diagram. I endorsed the hardware to the hardware lab for repair. After the repair I retest the board in Rfx # 8 and it passed. I loop the test for 30 times and still the yield is 100%.
In testing board # 2 of LF11, I found out that some of the components has a wrong value particularly R58 the reading is 10KW instead of 2KW, R26 is 100W instead of 0W and R32 which is 10KW instead of 0W. I verify this using the Good board of LF11 (board # 5).
After the replacement of the components, board # 2 is still failed in HVIN. I was not able to solve the problem because most of the components are capacitor. Capacitor changes its original value when it is already connected in the circuit (board circuit).
At the end of the day I was able to debug two RNYR of LF11-434 Rev B particularly board # 1 and # 3 but sad to say that board # 2 is still failure. I was not able to debug it because it is out of my limitation for now, but this is not the end. I will try harder to improve my knowledge especially in the field of electronics so that someday I will become more equip in my profession and become a more competitive engineer if God would allow me. I am very happy because this is a very worthwhile experience, I cannot imagine that I did all this thing. Now I know that “Experience cannot be paid by money”. Thank you MAXIM for this very wonderful experienced and also thank you to my beautiful, handsome and intelligent supervisor and mentors for sharing your knowledge to me. You helped me find the right path to success.
