Some reasons why legalizing illegal immigrants only leads to more illegal immigrants

WHY LEGALIZING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WON’T WORK

Even though I don’t live in America, I live on the island of Saint Martin, a French island where thousands of illegals try to enter every year from all over the world.

These immigrants are mostly Haitians, and unskilled an unable to read and write. However, because this island is French, once they get here, they are treated to social services that normal citizens have a hard time obtaining, even when they pay their dues.

During the years when the socialist party was in power in France, some 80.000 illegal immigrants were legalized. What happened? They brought in as many more as they could, resulting once more in thousands of illegals.

Now, America says it has about 11 million illegals, and it would cost too much to send them back home. That is the population of Haiti at the moment, though most of these people are from Mexico.

Illegal immigrants do what is called “the jobs Americans don’t want to do.” We had the same thing here, only of course on a much smaller scale. It’s not that people don’t want to do those jobs. It’s that the illegals do it for whatever they are offered, since whatever they are offered is several times what they would make at home.

If the regular pay for something is $ 20.- and they do it for $ 5.- who are you going to get to work for that? Now extrapolate, as Star Trek says: You legalize 11 million illegals, and what happens? First of all, you will have to pay them at least minimum wage. And then what? You are left without all those that you could hire for less. And then what? You get another wave of illegals.

Because, however you look at it, and it is very human problem which needs a human solution, but once you legalize those who have come into the country illegally, no matter what they have to pay, what they have to learn, as long as they do not have to return home, they are BEING REWARDED FOR THEIR ILLEGALITY.

Is it fair that so many people from Mexico, simply because they share a border with the US, get into the country and others who try to do things the legal way, because of numbers never get through?

What the solution is I don’t know. Having been born on this island where so many people come, even from Eastern Europe and Asia, I have never found it necessary to leave for good. However, I have seen native islanders refused services and monies that illegals receive, and every year we need more classrooms because education is compulsory. As I say, I would like to hear some suggestions for solutions.
