How To Wash Your Hair With Baking Soda
Store bought shampoo and conditioner can be expensive. The products claim to be good-to-excellent for your hair, but fall short to baking soda and vinegar. This article explains how and why to wash your hair with baking soda.
- Baking Soda
- Apple Vinegar
- Measuring Tbs
- 2 glasses/containers
-
Step 1
Get our your baking soda, measuring tbs, and glass/container. Measure 1tbs of baking soda and combine this to a full glass/container of water. Stir until there are no lumps. The mixture will be a little cloudy.
-
Step 2
Now, get out your apple vinegar, measuring tbs, and glass/container. Measure 1tbs of apple vinegar and combine to a full glass/container of water. Mix well.
-
Step 3
In the shower you will start by pouring 1/3 of the baking soda mixture on the crown of your head. Scrub away. Now, pour another 1/3 over the top of your head. Scrub. Pour the remaining mixture on your head. Scrub-scrub all over and onto the ends of your hair. Let it sit for a minute or two, then rinse well. Spend a few minutes to make sure it is completely out. For the first few days your hair will mat to your head. This is much different from regular shampoo, but keep up with it... you will reap the rewards in a few days.
-
Step 4
Now onto the vinegar rinse. The apple vinegar smells much better than strait vinegar, but does still smell in its own right. Don't worry, your hair will NOT smell after it dries. It actually smells wonderfully clean! Pour the entire cup slowly all over your head. Scrub away. Rinse out as you scrub. Your hair will tangle up for the first few days, but will become much easier after a couple days. Your hair is adjusting and striping out all the chemicals you have put into it for many years.
-
Step 5
Towel dry your hair and brush as normal. Again, your hair will tangle quite a bit for the first few days. Your hair will adjust and you will find that you will have VERY little tangles - as opposed to regular products, your hair will brush easily and look WONDERFUL! Your hair will be shiny, thick, and manageable. I need no products in my hair. Before I started this, I used shampoo, conditioner, gel, and hairspray. I occasionally used hot oil as well. This baking soda wash has stripped my hair of all these chemicals.
