10 Sections in a Wedding Scrapbook
A wedding is a wonderful theme to build a scrapbook around. Record everything from the initial stages of preparation to the final farewell as the couple leave on their honeymoon.
Engagement
The best way to start a wedding album is with the engagement. Photos to include are a shot of where the proposal took place and a close up of the ring. Don’t be afraid to cut photos to give a clearer effect.
Preparations
Wedding preparations can take many months and it’s good to have memories to look back on. Highlight areas such as searching for a dress, choosing party favors for the tables, selecting the bridesmaids’ outfits and sorting through menus and food choices.
Invitation
An important step in arranging a wedding is designing and sending out invitations. Keep some aside and use a couple of pages to display the front and inside of the invite. A good idea is to pick up on the theme by using a complementary background. For a traditional white and silver invitation, lacy effects and small pearls or white ribbons will look good.
Church/Wedding Venue
Shots of the inside and outside of the venue along with close-ups of detail make an interesting page. Look for items such as candles, communion emblems or song sheets to base a page on.
Flowers
Most weddings have loads of flowers and these can be used to create stunning pages. Look for a textured background in green – hand made paper would be good – and cut out photos of the bride’s bouquet and arrangements in the church and reception venue. A couple of dried, pressed flowers from the arrangements can make this section extra special.
Bride and Groom
A couple of pages each or a combined page work well. Look for unusual poses – the profile of the bride as her veil is lifted or the groom watching expectantly as his bride walks down the aisle. Backgrounds of gold and silver, lace and hearts will suit these pages.
Bridal Party and Family
The bridal party includes the bride and groom, matron of honour, bridesmaids, flower girls, best man, page boys and ring bearers. Family includes parents and any close relatives of choice. It is nice to have one group shot as well as individual ones of each sub-group.
Ceremony
This can be recorded in many ways. A twisting film strip is one creative way – use small size photos of unfolding events and arrange them in order. Things to include would be the bride’s entry, vows, prayers, signing the register etc. Scrapbook pages could highlight certain scenes such as the exchanging of rings, the first kiss and the triumphal march down the aisle. Think romance and undying love.
Reception
This section could include photos of the guests, the band, the dancing, the wedding cake, the bridal table, the food and menu and the pile of presents. This amount of information can look good as a patchwork of various size photos.
Departure
Make this a fun page with champagne bottles and corks or fireworks and streamer themes. Include the throwing of the bouquet, removal of the garter and shots of the bridal car – along with any decorations and attachments such as tin cans.
Wedding scrapbooks are extra special and lend themselves to textured pages, extravagant embellishments and poetry. Do an internet search for wedding poems and include these on appropriate pages. Make full use of the romantic angle and choose the best quality frames, borders, stickers and don’t be afraid of color and metallic finishes. A wedding scrapbook is a once in a life time masterpiece and something to be treasured.
