"Pssst! Hollywood writers and their union have a little secret they want to share: Some of the reality shows that are dominating the prime-time airwaves are -- spoiler alert! -- not really real," according to a Washington Post article, Reality Is Only An Illusion, Writers Say.

The Reality of Reality Shows is the audience may have over kill.  Is it a good thing to have millions of people in your life all the time including reruns?  The biggest family-oriented reality couple to bite the dust is Jon and Kate plus Eight. Clearly there were problems in the family from just watching the interactions of husband and wife. Even with the editing, there are times when the couple was less than loving. Of course, every married couple has problems, but not every couple is on TV. Having eight children is not easy for anyone. Married since 1999, they had a set of twins followed by sextuplets. Now their problems as a married couple are played out in the newspapers and on TV.

The two night cat fight seen round the world – The Reunion Show of Real Housewives of New York City. If you missed any shows the whole season was summed up in the reunion shows. At one point, the moderator Andy called for a break because he had a headache, so did I.

Mrs. LuAnn de Lesseps, the Countess as she likes to be called, got dumped by her husband the Count for an Ethiopian princess.  She assured everyone she will still be called Countess after the divorce.  Ramona Singer still has unresolved issues from seeing her mother as a victim of domestic violence. She tends to see the world according Ramona. She sometimes moves like she’s having a seizure. Jill Zarin seems the most typical New Yorker. The complete opposite is Alex McCord as the out of towner living in Brooklyn. The odd couple is Bethenny Frankel, still looking for parental and dating love.  Kelly Killoren Bensimon, the newest Housewife and a model, who has difficulty communicating as noted on the reunion show. Did they get-together to pull out each other’s extensions? Can’t wait for the Real Housewives of New Jersey – “when it comes to family, we are Thick as Thieves.”

With history reality shows have of couples breaking up, one would wonder why couples still sign-up. Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachey’s reality show MTV’s Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, they divorced a year later.  Carmen Electra & Dave Navarro is another couple that MTV chronicled. They broke up nearly three years later.

The most bizarre was the last Bachelor - Jason Mesnick. He picks a girl than breaks up with her on national TV. According to his bio, he has a BA in psychology from the University of Washington. He had to know how those break-up would distress a woman on national TV!  Season-four’s Bachelor, Bob Guiney, dumped Gardinier by phone and later married All My Children star Rebecca Budig.

Perhaps reality shows should use Queen’s Another One Bites the Dust as a theme song....

.... Machine guns ready to go
Are you ready, are you ready for this
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust....
