How to tell if you should get a fringe.
A simple guide to help you figure out whether or not a fringe is for you.
Fringes, bangs, forehead furniture, whatever you want to call them, some people need them, some don’t. They go in and out of fashion and they look great on some people, but others, they don’t.
Here is a quick guide to help you to determine whether or not you should have a fringe and if you do, which one to get.
Hair structure:
Curly hair: It pretty much goes without saying that if you have curly hair, then you really should avoid a fringe, unless you are prepared to straighten it every single morning!
Wavy hair: this type of hair generally tends to be quite thick aswell, make sure that if you do have a fringe, you get your hairdresser to thin it out for you.
Straight Hair: No problem.
Hair type:
Greasy: The fringe is the first place that will start to get greasy, especially since it has the natural oils from the forehead to contend with.
Dry/flyaway: The hair will start to show signs of damage very quickly, fringes require a surprising amount of care.
Frizzy: If your hair is prone to serious frizzing, you may want to skip the fringe.
Face shape:
Oval: If you are lucky enough to have an oval face, you can pretty much get away with any kind of fringe, sweeping, blunt, choppy, just make sure you keep it in good condition.
Round: Steer clear of blunt fringes as these will make your face look rounder, sweeping fringes tend to emphasise the width of your forehead.
Square: If you have a square face or square jaw, avoid blunt cuts as these will only emphasise that, the key is to try and soften the features. Try a sweeping fringe.
Long: if you have a long face, opt for a blunt cut fringe, or you could disguise the line of your forehead with a side sweeping fringe.
