Osteoporosis usually happens to postmenopausal women. It is a disease that weakens the bones and causes the bones to become fragile and prone to break. Managing Osteoporosis can be a challenged, physically and emotionally to some people.  It can prevent one from accomplishing simple, everyday tasks which causes them to feel helpless, isolated and depressed.  However, this disease is completely preventable and curable with the proper nutrition and exercise that strengthen the bones. Learn how to cope with bone loss or protect our bones everyday in your life.

1. Eat nutritious diet that include adequate amount of calcium and Vitamin D. Both are important for building healthy, strong bones. The best source of  vitamin D is sunlight.

 2. Engage in weight- bearing exercise everyday like jogging, walking, stair climbing, and dancing.  These exerices keep the bones healthy by working the muscles and bones against gravity.  Keep active. Work your muscles and bones.

3. Take medication when it is necessary.  Don't take chances. Refer your condition to the doctor. Treating osteoporosis should be a priority.

4. Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol intake.  These habits are not only bad for the body they are also bone-depleting putting you at higher risk for osteoporosis if you indulge in these kind of habits.  Smoking increases the rte of bone thinning once this condition starts due to advance age.

 5.  Avoid drinking coffee. If you drink coffee four or more cups, an increase calcium excretion  in the kidneys could occur. Less calcium means more chances of osteoporosis.  Limit your coffee intake to prevent you from risk of breaking the bones. Drink milk instead which contains calcium that can protect and promote strong bones.
