Isn't it tough to stay on a diet? Watching what you eat and how much you eat is a pain, to say the least. But don't worry: I can help!

A diet is something that can be tough to deal with because it is just so tempting to eat what we want. Unfortunately, food that isn't so good for you usually tastes pretty good, so you actually want to eat food that is sometimes bad for you; again, it is also unfortunate that many human beings simply do not have the willpower to stand up to their temptations and end up falling off their diets before making any significant degree of progress. So, how can you stay motivated on a diet so you won't end up like most of the world's dieting population?

I am in fact on a diet. I eat very little chocolate, drink no caffeinated soda, and watch how much I eat. The only thing keeping me motivated is my desire to stay in shape for the two sports I play and the hopes I have for my physique. I know that my diet is working because I feel great and have managed to avoid caffeinated soda for over seven months without every being tempted to drink it, and it's pretty easy to avoid chocolate in my house. When I started my diet, I knew that the foods I now refrain from eating are bad for me, and back then, that was enough to keep me motivated; however, times change, and soon my motivation did as well.

About two months into the diet, I realized that I could do more with it. I therefore cut most of the chocolate from my diet as well because I wanted to maximize my fitness. I currently stay motivated because I have seen the partial results of my diet and know if I continue to diet and work out like I do already, I can make myself into a much better person physically as well as mentally. I always tell myself that quitters never win, and I really do want to win (when it comes to my body, at least), so I'm doing everything I can to keep my head up and endure.

So, what can you do to stay motivated and avoid temptation? Know that quitters never win. If you quit your diet, you are running any chance that you have of accomplishing the goal which you set out on your diet for. You can't win if you don't try, so you need to tell yourself that you have to try to accomplish your goal. Why do you want to lose weight? To impress some guys or to make a school team? Whatever your reason is, you need to remind yourself of it constantly. You're eating less so you can look better and snag the guy or girl of your dreams. Tell yourself that every single night.

You should keep a record of your progress to stay motivated. This way, you can tell yourself that you are actually making progress and calculate how much more time you need to achieve your goal. This way, it makes your original goal look closer to you ("Only two more pounds!"), and gives you a desire to continue on your diet. With constant reminders about why you're doing it and updates on how much progress you have made, you should be able to stay motivated throughout the toughest, most strict diet in the world!
