Can Psychics Help Detectives Solve Crimes

According to the television show Psychic Detectives, psychics across the country have helped law enforcement solve cases. As on this show and many other media outlets, psychics claim to use many methods to get information about a victim ranging from clairvoyance, visions, remote viewing, post cognition, telepathy and psychometry.

There is also a growing trend nationwide of psychics either being contacted by the family or indicating they have information on famous cases such as Chandra Levy, Laci Peterson and others. Psychics, however, are not usually acknowledged by law enforcement agencies as it could seem to deter from the hard work performed by the officers, their agencies and concerned citizens that have diligently searched for the victim or spent countless hours working on the case.

The reality is there are as many skeptics out there as there are believers in the abilities of psychic. So what proof do we have that psychics are contributing or assisting to a case of a missing person or identifying the perpetrator of a crime? Is it possible that psychics are just more aware of their surroundings on a paranormal level? One would think that a psychic is just a normal person who honestly is just telling what they have seen in a dream or vision with the hope that even the smallest detail may assist in finding a loved one.  It would appear that the family of a missing person is beyond frustrated and willing to get assistance by whatever means if it could bring their child home or at least let the body be found. As a parent, you would not want to leave any stone unturned.
