How to Block Your Cell Phone Number from Showing Up on a Caller ID
Keep your cell phone number private and blocked from others!
Whether you want it blocked permanently or on a call by call basis, here are some tricks on how to keep your cell phone number and the name on your cellular account from showing up on caller ID's.
For permanent removal, call your customer service representative. This is usually 611 from your cell phone. You can request that your number be blocked from here on out.
That doesn't mean it's blocked forever. If you want your phone number to show up on a caller ID even after you've had it blocked from your service provider, you can dial *82. This has to be done at the beginning of every call for it to be disabled.
To have your number made private on calls that you just want it done, you can dial *67 before you dial the number with the area code. This will block it on a call by call basis for you.
Why would you need to block your number? Maybe you're trying to get a hold of a person for the hundredth time, and you know they are ignoring your call on purpose. Or you don't want the person to be able to call you back.
Check with your cellular service provider to find out the times when this WILL NOT work. They will be able to tell you the exceptions to the rule.
