Msn and Yahoo chat rooms were amongst the most popular chat rooms. They are still as popular as before but there is a great competition for them to handle as lots of free online chat rooms have crop of to entertain people. Because of these new chat rooms which are available for free, all types of people are now associated with a specific chat room or online social network.

The concept of chatting has helped people in a great way. Conducting business over internet has really become much more effective as companies now have specific blogs and forums to answer the questions of their visitors and consumers. This surely is a great form of communication, but, it is not exactly what the chatting is all about. Chatting is that form of communication where you become able to get replies in real-time and that’s the real beauty of online chatting. 

Though it is hard to find an individual who has never used internet for chatting, but, most of them don’t know how this entire chatting process started in reality. So, it is a good idea to shed some light on this process to learn the basics.

Chatting is a form of communication which is carried out in certain chat rooms. Chat rooms, on the other hand, are the virtual extensions of real-world human interaction, just like online social networks, instant messaging and email. To communicate with each other, people use text based messages within an online space known as chat room. The entire process of chatting started with email coming into being. An email based newsgroup, USENET was then started.

Different newsgroups started afterwards to get converted to bulletin boards with integrated chat and instant messaging options to communicate with other members of group in real time. CompuServe CB simulator is supposed to be the first real-time chat room. This chat room was followed by many others along with Quantum Link which started the chat room service with the name of People Connection. Quantum Link is still available with the name of AOL or America Online.

In the beginning, only youngsters were attracted towards chat rooms as it offer them the opportunity to flirt with their fellow users. But, things have changed today as elders are also surfing internet with an interest and vigor similar to youngsters. It is because of the availability of so many options that everyone can find a group tailored to his needs or matching his personality.

Today, internet is not limited to youngsters and you can experience it by witnessing the large majority of senior surfers and chatters in online chat rooms . Free chat rooms have made people much more comfortable with the thought of getting indulged in online chat. So, the numbers of people are likely to go up in near future along with an increase in the chat rooms.
