Do you watch too much TV? Here's how to break your television addiction.

First, decide how much time you want to allow for TV watching per day or per week. Or, just set a goal to just watch less TV.

Make a list of all of the shows that you watch. Then, choose which you watch just for the sake of watching them, and which you really like. Give up some of the shows that you don't really enjoy. Why keep watching a TV show if you aren't enjoying it?

If a show that used to be great is no longer enjoyable, stop watching! Once you miss one or two episodes, you'll be less inclined to pick up where you left off, or you'll be able to just watch the occasional episode.

Don't be tempted by new TV shows. If you don't watch the first episode, and you'll have significantly less chance of becoming hooked on the show. Essentially, if you never start watching, you have less odds of becoming addicted to watching a television show.

Don't put extra TVs in your home. The more TVs you have, the more TV you're likely to watch.

Get a DVR or Tivo system. Then, you can skim through shows and watch them at your convenience. You won't have to be glued to a TV waiting for a show to start.

Join a club or social organization, or get a hobby. These things will give you something productive to do, rather than watching television every night.

Read more books! They're entertaining and fun, and you can read whenever is convenient for you.

I watch tv every now and then esp. fashion & reality shows like Project Runway. It takes up a lot of time so I refrain from watching but it is fun though.

I like this article.  I don’t watch TV at all anymore.  It really is just a habit.  Escapism can be achieved in so many more productive ways…

Neat article with good sound advice. Television can be a good relaxer, but can also rob you of your time! NW
