Aishwarya Rai (Bachchan) is one of the most gorgeous actresses of bollywood.she started her career as a model and earned a lot of fame after winning the Miss World title in the year 1994 where she also won the Miss Photogenic Award.her parents Krishnaraj Rai, who is an ex-merchant navy officer and Vrinda Rai belongs to the Bunt community in Mangalore.

After a succesful career in modelling, Aishwarya Rai made her debut through the tamil film “Iruvar” opposite superstar Mohanlal.the film won the Best Film Award at the Belgrade International Film Festival along with two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards South.she entered the bollywood in the same year with the film “Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya” which was a flop.however her first commercial success came quickly in the next year through the tamil film “Jeans” for which she was awarded the Filmfare Best Actress Award South.she also won a Filmfare Best Actress Award for her excellent performance in the film “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” in which she plays the role of a girl who gets forcefully married to a man when she was already in love with another guy.But she gave her career best performance in the film “Devdas” acting as “Paro” which won her another Filmfare Best Actress Award.also the film won 10 Fimfare Awards and received a special screening at the Cannes Film Festival.after that her career experienced a little downturn.she recovered from it with blockbuster “Dhoom 2” and “Jodha Akbar” .she also did a few english films  “Bride And Prejudice”, “Mistress of Spices”, “Provoked”, “The Last Legion” and “The Pink Panther 2”.but none of them proved to be successful.

Aishwarya is known for her beauty all over the world.in 2004, the TIME magazine has chosen her as one of the world’s “100 Most Influential People” in the world.in the same year, a wax of Aishwarya is put on display in London’s Madame Tussaud’s wax museum.she has been awarded the Second Highest Order of France, the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in the year 2009.the Indian government honoured her with “Padma Shri” award for her contributions to Indian cinema.
