Anxiety can be defined as “an unpleasant emotion in the mind of a person which is an experience, with an inability to face the stress and strain of the routine life”. This unpleasant emotion is either a fear or depressed feeling of what is going to happen. In this state, the person acts under force or pressure of the anxiety and some physical characteristics also appear, like his eyes become wide, vision is blurred, inability to concentrate, or he gets irritated easily and lose his sleep, etc. We do not have pills for our anxiety but we have tranquilizers to giver us some relaxation to give us some relaxation mentally and physically. But the problem again reappears as soon as the effect of the drug is over. All the psychosomatic and even somatic symptoms are due to anxiety.

How to avoid this depression or depressed feelings? Why is there an increase of these types of feelings? The answer to the first question is we are always expecting too much of ourselves and there is no end to it. We have an unrealistic goal and we keep on trying to achieve it, and when we cannot cope up with the difficulties, we become anxious and depressed. The answer to the second question is that we all do everything to please others. For example, “I hope my friend will like this present; I hope my boss will appreciate my work”. We do not do anything to please ourselves but someone else.

In order to get rid of anyone has to learn to live with it. Anxiety comes and goes. We must have patience to know that we are going to achieve will definitely take time. Meditation and relaxation does help to relieve one from anxiety and depression. We must talk about anxiety and depression to somebody; have patience and presence of mind if we really want to free ourselves from them.
