Genelia D'Souza, also called as Geenu is a cute actress who hails from Mumbai.Her father Neil D'Souza is a senior official with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) whereas her mother Jeanette D'Souza was a mananging director at a pharma MNC.she belongs to the Mangalorean catholic community which is a prominent christian community in Mumbai.

her first film was "Tujhe Meri Kasam" in hindi opposite Ritesh Desmukh.he then went to tollywood where she made her debut with the film "satyam" which was a big hit.she acted in several films but it's her character "hasini" in "Bommrillu" that earned her a huge popularity.her new style of acting made the audience adore her.she is the winner of Nandi Special Jury Award, Telugu Filmfare Award for Best Actress, Santosham Award for Best Actress.she has been chosen for the role in both the tamil and hindi remakes of the film.meanwhile, she did a few films in hindi.but this time it's the blockbuster "Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na" that fetched her a lot of fame in which she plays the role of aditi sharma (Meow).her character in the film became very popular among the bollywood and offers flooded her.she replaced Rani Mukherjee as brand ambassador of Fanta (India) and Preity Zinta for the chocolate Perk (India).
