Danny Gokey Should've Went Home on American Idol

It's not his area but Danny Gokey sang a version of Aerosmith's Dream On and it was absolute garbage. There is no way he has outperformed Allison here recently on American Idol.

I have liked Danny Gokey since the beginning of the show. Like many fans of American Idol I felt for the story of his personal losses. Losing a loved one is always tough and is something that many people can find common ground on throughout life. It's unfortunate that American Idol may be using this as a marketing ploy to promote Danny Gokey to the finals.

Danny Gokey is a very good singer but here recently he has been seemingly getting worse with each week at least in my opinion. His version of Aerosmith's Dream On was just awful. As Simon Cowell said "It was like watching a horror movie." and that's about as accurate as a judge could be without saying it completely stunk. It makes you wonder how did he move on the next round? Especially over Allison Iraheta who wasn't great but was definitely better than Danny Gokey and the American Idol judges agreed on the show.

Is it an issue with voting? Ryan Seacrest said that they had over 64 million votes. Was there that many people watch the show that week? I doubt it considering that American Idol hovers around the 20 million mark in terms of viewership. This means that you likely have people voting multiple times for their favorites. This was brought up in the past when Jasmine Trias was rumored to have received twice as many votes from Hawaii than the entire population of the island state.

With American Idol there is no telling what we will see in these final weeks but I expect Adam Lambert to emerge as the winner over Danny Gokey in the finals. Will his personal losses and Adam's flambouyant personality give the christian singer an edge? I guess we will have to find out.
