Read why this casual moviegoer gives the film 4.5 out of 5 stars.

This summer, Marvel releases another action-packed superhero movie based on one of X-Men's most famous characters. X-Men Origins: Wolverine delves into the story of the mutant named Logan, from the time he discovers his powers during childhood until his metamorphosis into the ultimate Adamantium-injected hero. Also in the film we meet other characters with "unique" capabilities: Logan's brother Victor Creed (Sabertooth), loud-mouthed swordsman Wade Wilson (Deadpool), teleporter John Wraith, muscleman Frederick Dukes (aka Blob, after his diet problems), gunsmith David North (Agent Zero), and electricity-controlling Chris Bradley (Bolt), all of them working under the mysterious Col. Stryker.

A few more mutants are to be of our acquaintance in the movie, particularly a much younger Scott Summers (Cyclops) and charming gambler Remy LeBeau (Gambit). They all come together to make one adrenalin-pumped movie that will surely make you stay for the next two hours or so.

While the movie was based on a very well-known and much loved Marvel hero, X-Men purists and fans may be a bit disappointed with how the flow of the story goes. If you were a big fan and have read Wolverine's origins in the comics, you would notice many bits and pieces that should have been there or not. Some inconsistencies in timelines were apparent in the movie. But that is if you really want to stick with the original comic book story. And you'd also notice the very few times he said "Bub" in the film.

Another noticeable flaw in the movie is of one of the supporting characters: Gambit. It's common knowledge that he is a Cajun, of French descent. But with a missing French accent, he looks just as ordinary (but probably not as cute) as any boy next door.

Despite this, the slew of action sequences make up for it. Avid fans and casual moviegoers looking for a truly action-packed movie this season won't be left wanting for more. The ending also justifies what has become of the main character -- why Logan cannot remember anything about his past at all.

Hugh Jackman is perfectly cast as the gruff yet endearingly cute Wolverine/Logan. Liev Schreiber gives enough menace as Sabertooth. Korean heartthrob Daniel Henney (Agent Zero) and Taylor Kitsch (Gambit) add a little sexy spice. Dominic Monaghan should have been given more sequences, though. And also watch out for a cameo appearance from another prominent X-Men character towards the end.

Speaking of ends, there's a short scene at the end of the credits. You be the judge as to whether it has any significance to the film or the character, or none at all.

All in all, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is entertaining and heartstopping, loaded with enough action guaranteed to keep you at the edge of your seats. It's one summer movie you wouldn't want to miss.
