INDIAN INHERITANCE
Have you ever wondered why it is that your mother is diabetic. Your aunt suffers from angina and your cousin has been started on blood pressure pills even though she's only 40?
Is the issue genetic, or is it that we follow a bad diet and don't exercise enough, or is it just that life isn't fair? The simple answer is that it's a combination of all four. There's not much we can do to change our genes; but we can atleast address other factors in order to drive down the risk of developing health complaints.
ISCHAEMIC HEART DISEASE
Ischaemic heart disease ( IHD ) is caused when blood flow to the heart is interrupted or blocked by a build- up of fatty substances in the arteries.
Researchers have determind that those of Indian descent have the highest rates of heart disease in the world . Some studies have demonstrated that I ndians may be at a greater risk because of higher prevalence of diabetes , metabolic syndromes and elevated levels of bad cholesterol. Contrary to popular belief, Woman are four times more likely to die of IHD then breast cancer, and heart disease claims nearly twice as many as all forms of cancer. Woman also respond to stress in different ways then men . You may actually be at greater risk if you work in an environment that does not challenge you. One where you feel under- used, where you lack control or are overwhelmed.
HOW DO WE PREVENT IT
Reduce your fat intake. bad fats or low density lipoproteins ( LDLs ) do not dissolve in the blood. Instead they hitch a ride on proteins, In order to maximise your intake of good fats, substitute olive oil for other oils and swap fish for red meat. Avoid snacking on paneer and fried food like pakoras and samosas , and opt for fresh fruit as a healthy alternative. Exercise for at least 30 minutes three times a week, and try to take the stairs instead of the lift. Reduce stress levels.Try learning relaxation techniques or take up yoga.
Make yoga a lifestyle to prevent certain disease such as heart disease, obese blood pressure and sleep disturbance. you need not to be a yoga expert ,simply take few steps and remain in shape and in order.
Travis, neurons(nerve cells) have their tips throughout the base of the skin. However, they are most active at certain points on our palms and beneath the feet. When mudras are practised, these neuron tips get activated and function efficiently to give better results. The best part is, there are no side effects like those due to some types of medicines. This has been proven scientifically. These practices have been there in India since long and they are slowly gaining international popularity and worldwide acceptance.
The Mudeas
Mudras are very powerful. If you practice these mudras regularly you can see the wonderful health benefits.
Long before this much publicity came to yoga my grand father used to practice asanas, chakras and mudras in yoga. To my knowledge my grandfather has never gone to a doctor. He has neither diabetes nor blood pressure. He taught us the way to practice mudras. Mudras are very powerful. If you practice these mudras regularly you can see the wonderful health benefits.
