Say No to Diets!

My personal journey towards a healthier me. A lifestyle transformation I have encountered thru this process.

After I had my second child until a year ago, I weighed 200 lbs.  I am only 5 feet 2 inches tall.  I looked like Godzilla, but shorter.  I used to joke with my husband just push me down the road and I will be able to keep-up with the car.  I hid my feelings about how I looked with being fun-spirited.  My arthritis and fibromyalgia was even worse than how it is now.  Knock, Knock, diabetes and heart disease was waiting for prime opportunity to take me.  I could not deal with it anymore.  Worrying, if I am going to live to an old age to see my kids marry.

Exercise; was not an option unless I had the money for gym membership.  The pool is the only type of exercise that my body can endure.  I do not have a job because of my conditions so; affording a membership was not possible.

I was only eating one meal a day so; my body was hibernating like a bear.  The way I looked everyone thought I ate all the time.  It was not the case my body was storing my fat.  Sometimes I experienced shakes because of going too long without food.

I have a health journal to keep track of my in-take with food.  I drank eight glasses of water every day.  I divorced bread, sugar, alcohol, corn, cheese, and salad dressing.  I made my meals in a bigger quantity.  I ate every 3 hours since morning to night.  My meals were in small portions too.  I had to force myself to eat when I was not hungry.

Examples of my meals included:

Two egg whites and half of grapefruit

3oz of fish, medium potato, and broccoli

3oz of turkey salad with tomatoes

I substituted salad dressing replacing it with extra virgin olive oil and seasoning.  I was brought-up without adding salt to my food so, that was not hard.  I would once a week drink a diet soda.  I did eat fast food sometimes.

Wendys:

Grilled chicken sandwich no bun plain and potato

McDonalds:

Grilled chicken no bun plain side salad no dressing

  1. The next day right back on it and my metabolism burns it off so; you do not see an increase on the scales.

I will be around to love and receive love from my family and friends!  Moreover, that is the greatest reward of this life-style change and journey I am on to continue my purpose in life.
