The hottest health news right now is the swine flu. Governments from all around the world are finding ways to combat this type of influenza. Like most viruses, swine flu spreads via person to person contact especially through coughing and sneezing. So what can you do to protect yourself? Stay calm and practise 6 effective prevention tips below.

1. Wash you hands
This is the most basic hygiene rules that you have to comply and do it the right way. If you use public facilities, after washing your hands, turn off the tap with a paper towel. Same goes to opening or closing the washroom door. The basic rules is, do not touch any surface with your bare hands.

2. Sanitize your hands.
Always carry a bottle of hand sanitizer whenever you go. You can use it when hand washing facilities are not around. Also use it after touching any commonly touched areas like stair railings, shopping cart handles or door handles.

3. Wear a mask
If you live in an area that has been identified as a prone area to swine flu, you must wear a surgical mask particularly when you are outside your house. You also need to change it frequently. Whenever you have cough or sneeze, always cover your mouth with a tissue and throw it right away, in a proper way after using it.

4. Dispose the used tissues and masks in a proper way
Put them in a trash bag, tied it properly and dispose it in the trash or incinerator. Do not keep the used tissue in your handbag or your pocket; you must dispose it right away.

5. Spray anti-bacterial solution such as Lysol at commonly touched areas in your house or office, such as toilet seats, toilet handles, door handles, fridge handles, light switches and stair railings.

6. Boost your immune system and stay hydrated by eating more fresh vegetables and fruits.
By taking enough nutrition, you body will boost enough immune system to block any virus from entering your body. Put in your list supplements like Echinacea, zinc and vitamin C as they are known as best supplements to boost your immune system.
