World wrestling entertainment is the brain child of one charasmatic person.

You probably need to go deep into the annals of wrestling, to understand the history of world wrestling entertainment.

It’s not easy, though. You truly need to acquire enough information about the changing face of world wrestling during the 80’s. The competition it faced; the success and failures of WWF, and how it went through.

The history of world wrestling entertainment (WWE) has its roots etched on world wrestling federation (WWF).

The world wrestling federation (WWF) has been the prominent force in the world of wrestling right from the 80’s. WWF was floated by ‘Titan sports’ and to popularize the brand in the international market, ‘Titan sports’ decided to sought international trademark of the abbreviated form “WWF”.  The move was disputed by ‘world wildlife fund’, as it didn’t want to hurt its cause internationally.

That’s how it started. WWF had gained immense popularity in the international market; the public ratings in the eastern countries were on a rise.

WWF owner, Vince McMahon wanted to launch products internationally through WWF’s brand.

He had been trying to enter into product licensing, television, live events, and music and product sales in order to generate revenue from the international market. And for that he needed an international trademark.

In 1994, world wrestling federation struck a deal with world wildlife fund, and they probably agreed to some kind of an agreement. The WWF persisted with the use of the initials internationally, but world wildlife fund did not appreciate the increasing use of the abbreviated form ‘WWF’ by the world wrestling federation.

The lawsuit was again filed in the year 2000 by world wildlife fund. Something needed to be done, because the growing popularity of WWF was a huge gain by the wrestling federation.

They would never want to sacrifice the revenues that were generated in the international market. That led to the formation of world wrestling entertainment.

World wrestling entertainment (WWE) was floated in the year 2002 by Vince McMahon. The true motive of WWE was to run international business of WWF in the field of entertainment.

WWE is perhaps the largest company in the world that promotes wrestling internationally.

WWE promotes three brands, namely, RAW, Smackdown and ECW. And all these three brands are a huge hit world wide.

WWE also has widespread collections of videos about past professional wrestling fights, which it shows to entertain viewers and generate advertising revenues.

WWE has truly transformed the face of professional wrestling. It had infused entertainment into the game of wrestling.
