Mathieu Kasovitz born April 3, 1967 in Paris, France became a known director, screenwriter, producer and actor.

Mathieu Kasovitz born April 3, 1967 in Paris, France became a known director, screenwriter, producer and actor amongst the French community, he was introduced to the media of film  and filmmaking by his mother Chantal Remy who was a film editor and his father Peter who was already a director and writer in his own right.  Growing up in France Mathieu had to deal with living in a home where the culture between his father and mother was different.  Mathieu’s father was Hungarian Jew and his mother was a French Catholic.  When Mathieu grew older and began his career he later married an actress by the name of Julie Mauduech, where they had a daughter together by the name of Carmen. 

            The career of Mathieu Kassovitz has been considered as a very successful one in which the projects he took on created some stirs while others gained commercial appeal.  The project “La Haine” in which Mathieu wrote and directed brought about a stir as it was considered as one of Mathieu’s controversial films which dealt with race, the film won him an award for best director at the Cannes Film Festival. 

            As his career continued on receiving some attention from the American market was inevitable.  Having received some comparison to Spike Lee for his film “La Haine” Mathieu later directed Les Rivieres Pourpres which was a thriller that starred Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel.  The film received commercial success, soon after Mathieu directed “Gothika” which starred leading actress Halle Berry, the movie didn’t receive much commercial success even though it made twice as much as it was budgeted for.

            Mathieu Kassovitz an artist who has given the media all of what it has to offer through the work of creating, writing, shooting and even acting.  His career shined like a light that wouldn’t go out, acting in the successful film “Amelie” and the light still hasn’t went out as the Mathieu continues to work on a new film which is slated to start filming come the year 2011.
