Louis Malle who is known amongst the French as a one of a kind and a rarity in his own right, was born October 30, 1932 grew up in a family that was well off financially in Thumeries, Nord, France.  The family made their fortune from the industrial industry.  From that moment on Louis was able to take full advantage of his opportunity and took interest in film after making significant strides in his studies in political science at Sorbonne.  Louis later took up on the idea of the film media and later attended school at the prestigious institute of learning called I.D.H.EC.

After completing his studies and being an assistant to directors like Robert Bresson, the time for Louis to shine was not too far from becoming a reality.  It was an era where a number of new French directors was about to hit the scene and Louis was one of which that wouldn’t disappoint.  After completing his first feature length “L’Ascenseur pour l’echafaud” Louis received high praise and this one hit wouldn’t be his last.  With such attention actress Jeanne Moreau who worked on Louis’ first project was also considered to star in Louis’ second project which was considered controversial for it’s time due to all of the nude sequences that took place.  The film was banned from being shown in various markets, and yet the content and the reaction of the public didn’t stop Louis from doing what he loved and enjoyed as a director.
