A how to on setting up an affordable blue tarp tent

My number one way to camp is using a blue tarp tent. With an affordable 8x10 blue tarp, six tent stakes and a trek pole or walking stick you can set up a rather nice two man tent. I promise that ever sence I tried the tarp I have never went back to store bought tents.

The first step is to lay your tarp out flat on the ground. Face one of the long sides of the tarp and find the center then stake down the middle point between the center and left corner. With your second stake find the middle between the center and right corner and stake it. Remeber that this step was all done on one of the long sides. This will finish the back section.

The second step you will need to move to the other long side of the tarp. You need to take each corner and pull them paralle with your stakes you just set and stake them. This should give you the slake to insert your pole inbetweenyour stakes you just set. At this point it should start to take shape.

The last step you need to move to the short side of your tarp. Pull out the centerof your short side and stake it with your fifth stake. Move to the oppisite side and repeat with your sixth stake. The back corners of your new tent can be tucked underneth the body of the tent.

This technique is best used on dry ground. If you have a sleep pad or spare tarp to lay down moister is no problem. Setting up this style of tarp tent maybe tricky at first.

Print this how to and use it while you try the set up and it should be a breeze.
