2008-2009 Brunotti Onyx 136 x 40 Kiteboard
A full wood core kiteboard with ABS sidewalls clear laminate graphics and it really is a stunning looking board.
Both 2008 and 2009 Brunotti Onyx kitesurfing Boards are the same apart from the graphics. These boards are aimed at beginner to intermediate kitesurfers. I chose the Onyx in the biggest size after upgrading from a 125cm board.
At 80kg I wanted an early planning board that was forgiving enough to help me progress and cope with heavy chop.
It’s a full wood core board with ABS sidewalls clear laminate graphics and it really is a stunning looking board. The clear laminate also means that when its scratched its very difficult to see them keeping the board looking smart for a long time. Moderate rocker and lots of flex this board really easy to ride very soft landings and ride through chop with ease. Pop is also very good but it’s not as mental as a stiffer board. There is also a moderate concave which helps you get going early in light winds. I use the board in all winds as my only board and have no trouble holding down allot of power.
I have been using the onyx for some time now and can safely say it’s the best thing I had done to improve my kiteboarding. The best thing for me is being able to get upwind very quickly with a smaller kite than I had been used to. This means I can keep trying tricks without worrying about getting back upwind, in-fact I’ve had to learn to ride downwind as I often find myself to far upwind. After only a couple of month with the board my confidence has increased and the front and back popped rolls have been mastered, jumps are bigger than I’ve ever been and even trying some unhooking with some sketchy Raileys.
If you’re looking for a board to improve with and have been struggling with small or very stiff boards give the Onyx a try. A very cool board at very reasonable prices, built to a very high standard.
