Hit the road jack. Today's tough times call for better marketing and advertising while budgets are cut. This is the modern day version of using your vehicle and your equipment; much like an old fashioned peddler, and taking your product to where the customers are.

How to Marketing for a Tight Economy

By Alrady

Creative Marketing

You have heard of gorilla marketing? Well it is time to restratigise and hit the road. Personal face to face marketing by  putting your best foot forward and hitting  the road using all your available tools and resources to market with a tight budget.

In this economy, marketing strategies demand an increase of physical presence to be effective and stay within budget.

75-85% of business failure can be attributed to lack of marketing or funding for marketing.

In this economy dollars are tighter and creativity is key to being effective!

"Market like a turtle" is nutshelll statement for assembling a complete promotional package and traveling with that package. Much like a turtle does with his complete home carried with him. Your vehicle is the shell on your back, while hitting the street where the people are.

Is face to face marketing part of the top ten company strategies? Is the company fully utilizing the business opportunities for meeting and group events? Can the marketing department provide a presentation in less than 1/2 hour?

VEHICLE ADVERTISING:
Use your vehicles to advertise. Get signage on all the vehicles. If you do not have a company vehicle, consider buying an inexpensive truck or van. Have it painted with your company logo, phone number and other information. Think of this vehicle as your turtle shell. Pay to have it professionally wrapped.

PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS:
Keep promotional product with you at all times. Brochures, pamphlets, laptop with PowerPoint presentation, cell phone. Basically your office in a turtle shell. Consider buying secondhand electronics so that you have the ability to stash them in the vehicle, limiting the need to juggle back and forth.

DISPLAYS:
If you have a service to display, have everything necessary packed up for a quick display. Take along letterhead paper and thank you notes, and business cards. Utilize your marketing in a shell for community promotional: Chamber of Commerce, fairs, business demonstrations.

COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES:
Plan times to visit Chamber meetings, Business Journal mixers, Twitter meetups, and have your "office, away from office" ready to rock. Whenever possible, call the sales team to your display location to answer customer questions. Try to make demonstrations interactive for clients.
Take your product to whereyou customer is, save on your advertising dollar and be effective.

You can market and market efficiently with a personal touch.  Be as unique as you can and keep your customer needs in mind. You will increase sales and save valuable dollars towards growing your business in a tight economy.
